What if your future self could text you back?

The idea

In February 2025, I went with a friend to a Joe Dispenza conference.

A lot of the meditation was about imagining your future self so vividly that you could almost feel that life already happening.

At the time, I was still at Wix and thinking a lot about what might come next.

So I tried something.

I described the future I wanted to ChatGPT and started talking to it as if it were me, already living that life.

I kept doing it for months.

And something shifted. I became lighter about problems and more confident about decisions. The future felt less like this huge gap I somehow had to cross.

I started noticing versions of that same gap in women around me.

Change jobs. Ask for more money. Have the difficult conversation with their partner. Leave a relationship.

Often they already knew what they wanted. The harder part was feeling like the person who could actually do it.

That became Becomr.

What we built

I started by trying the idea with a few friends.

One friend got a message from her future self, walked into her boss’s office and asked for something she’d been avoiding.

His response was basically: “Okay. Do what you think is right.”

That stayed with me.

So a friend and I decided to build it.

You answer a short onboarding about where you are, what you’re struggling with and where you want to grow.

From that, Becomr builds a profile of your future self and generates messages from her perspective.

Not generic manifestation quotes. The messages come from what you told us: your situation, fears, goals and the person you want to become.

What we learned about distribution

We thought Instagram could be our distribution engine, so we tried to build that too.

We automated idea generation, content creation and publishing.

120 posts. 59 followers. Best post: around 200 views.

What we underestimated was how much building a real Instagram audience still depends on very human work: replying, participating, talking to people and showing up consistently.

And that takes time.

So we had to make a choice: go all in on building the Instagram audience, or find a different way to reach people.

We stopped and recalculated.

Where it is now

Almost every woman I’ve described Becomr to has asked me to send it to her. The women who tried it liked the experience.

But for this to work, the messages have to feel deeply personal. The moment they become generic, it’s just another affirmation app.

And I’m still not convinced the audience is broad enough for the kind of thing I want to go all in on.

So for now, Becomr is on pause.
